One School of Printing & Allied Trades is functioning under administrative control of the Directorate of Printing, Stationery & Publication, Odisha, Madhupatna, Cuttack. It was established in the year, 1955 with an objective to bring-out skilled technicians in printing trades to the need of the Odisha Government Press as well as other Presses of Central and Private Sectors. Subsequently, the Printing School was converted into a Basic Training Centre since 1971 as per the provisions contain in section-9 of the Apprentices Act 1961. It is the only Basic Centre for the printing trade Apprentices of the State of Odisha.

Since 1971, this School is imparting training in different printing trades as well as Post-ITI apprenticeship training of the ITI NTC Holders. Initially, the training was provided in the trades viz: Letterpress, Composing, Lino Operator, Mono Operator and Engraving etc. Consequent upon introduction of latest printing technology, training is being imparted only in the trades like Offset, Platemaking, Retouching and Book Binding. The State Apprenticeship Advisor, after conducting necessary survey in this organisation has fixed the number of seat in different trades for imparting of such training. 2. Usually the School engages fresh apprentices twice in a year i.e March/April & August/ September also conducted all India Trade Test under SCTE & VT, BBSR and issue certificates accordingly.
